City of Arlington Richard Simpson Park Lake House

To enhance the experiences of the citizens of Arlington utilizing Richard Simpson Park, the city made a commitment to improve the existing conditions as well as the functionality of the park. To do this, Elements was selected to provide a master plan for the park as a result of the programming for a new lake house. Our services provided for this project included meeting with the city, the stakeholders, and active citizens and residents living in the area. Each group was provided with the opportunity to provide input. This community involvement was done over several open forums throughout the planning and programming stages of the project.

Richard Simpson Park features include relocation of the Yacht Club, their boats and facility, addition of pavilions and other areas for gathering and a children’s play area. Additionally, the existing restrooms were redesigned/relocated to better fit within the new design of the park and the existing lake house is included in the master plan for the park, which will serve multi-functional uses for the City and the park users. The new lake house will offer a rental facility and support spaces including a catering kitchen. As a part of the master planning, the new design and layout for the park will preserve the key characteristics and attributes while providing for best use of all areas of the park. The master plan provides the users with an enhanced experience of the park and the lake. Services for this project have been through the master plan and 75% of construction documents. Included with our master plan deliverable are perspectives for the lake house, graphics of the master plan for posting to the City website, and illustrations for citizens and stakeholders forums.
