Convention Center Master Plan – Fort Worth, Texas
This project began at the earliest stages of the project with programming of the users for understanding their short- and long-term needs associated with supporting the facilities events which include large banquets, group meetings, exhibits, and other trade type events. We found the largest deficiency to be in food service preparation and access through the facility while events were occurring simultaneously. Additionally, planning for upgrading of restrooms, meeting rooms, office space and other support functions were included within the scope of the project. The convention center, as it now stands, was expanded in various multiple phases with no comprehensive egress plan or analysis provided. As a part of this project, a thorough investigation of many phases of construction documents were researched, analyzed, and consolidated for one comprehensive planning package. This included review of documents for occupancies, area separation existing paths of travel, egress system, and all other life safety systems, and how they will impact the master planning and direction of design as the needs are evaluated and solutions determined. This project required many meetings with end users as well as City staff to compile a total planning package for presentation to City Council for approval.
