Frisco Montessori Academy – Frisco, Texas
The Frisco Montessori Academy project was the addition of two Classrooms and two Offices to the existing Kindergarten through Fifth Grade Academy Building located in Frisco, Texas. The Academy is located on a two-acre site, making zoning and the aesthetics of the addition a major challenge. In addition, the site has an approximate six foot drop at the back of the existing building, making accessibility a key part of the design solution.
The City of Frisco had implemented several Planning and Zoning regulations which required Elements of Architecture to conform to strict design and materials usage. The end result is that the addition must appear to be an original design instead of having the look of an add-on. Elements also did a notable job in staying within the allowable square footage permitted by the code for the existing construction type. Although this was a small project, it presented very large obstacles, all of which the Elements team was able to resolve to meet the owner’s needs.
